Mihrimah Sultan Mosque in Üsküdar stands near the ferry square on Istanbul’s Asian side. Also known as İskele Mosque, it is a convenient stop during a waterfront visit. It is a different building from the Mihrimah Sultan Mosque in Edirnekapı, Fatih.

Which Mihrimah Sultan Mosque is this?
This guide covers Üsküdar Mihrimah Sultan Camii. Üsküdar Municipality identifies it as a mosque designed by Mimar Sinan for Mihrimah Sultan and built between 1546 and 1548. The central dome and three semi-domes are useful starting points for looking at its architecture.
Location and getting there
Location: Üsküdar ferry square, Üsküdar, Istanbul. Search a map using the full phrase “Mihrimah Sultan Camii Üsküdar”. If a result takes you to Fatih or Edirnekapı, it is the other mosque.
After arriving at the Üsküdar waterfront, orient yourself around the ferry square. For travel between districts, use our Istanbul transport guide.
Visiting respectfully
This is a working mosque. Follow entrance instructions, dress modestly and remove shoes where required. Give worshippers space and ask permission before photographing people. If visitor access is paused for prayer, use the time for a waterfront walk and return later.
Plan an Üsküdar visit
Combine the mosque with the square and a walk by the water rather than assigning a whole day to one building. Keep your route flexible for weather and prayer times. If you also want to visit Maiden’s Tower, confirm its current visitor-boat departure point first; a view of the tower from Üsküdar does not mean boats leave from the nearest pier.
What previous visitors noticed
On Tripadvisor, Mohamed Sami described an October 2024 visit as worthwhile while already in Üsküdar. Alberto Teodosio Biondi, visiting in September 2024, noted the raised setting, porch and interior. These are summaries of individual visitor accounts, not a guarantee of current access. They fit a short stop within a wider waterfront walk.
