Tuzla is a coastal district on the far eastern edge of Istanbul’s Asian side, and it is a good base only for particular trips: the Viaport Marina area, business in Tuzla’s industrial and shipyard districts, thermal and spa stays, or an early flight from Sabiha Gökçen Airport. If your plans centre on Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar, stay closer to the old city instead.
Last checked: 22 October 2026 against each hotel’s official page. We have not stayed at these hotels, so this guide lists what each property publishes and the questions to ask before you book.
Is Tuzla a good place to stay in Istanbul?
Tuzla suits you if:
- your meetings, event or marina visit are in Tuzla,
- you have an early or late flight from Sabiha Gökçen, which lies roughly 12 to 18 km away by road depending on the hotel,
- you want a spa or thermal stay with a seaside setting.
It does not suit first-time sightseers. The Marmaray suburban rail line stops at Tuzla, but reaching Sirkeci and Sultanahmet takes roughly an hour each way, plus the walk at each end. Check the current Marmaray timetable before you rely on it. For a sightseeing trip, compare our guide to the best areas to stay and our Sabiha Gökçen transport guide.

What to check before you book a Tuzla hotel
- Choose the right branch. Some brands run several hotels around Istanbul. Emirtimes, for example, also has a hotel in another district, and several Crowne Plaza hotels exist around the city. Match the address to your booking.
- Do not trust a headline airport time. Ask the hotel for a quote and pickup instructions for your flight time, then add a margin for traffic and check-in.
- A marina address does not guarantee a marina view. If the view matters, ask for the room outlook in writing.
- Compare totals. Check the price for your exact dates, including taxes, meals and any transfer or spa charges, and ask for the cancellation deadline in local time.
- Ask about facilities. Pool hours, age rules and spa treatments are often charged separately from the room.
