Erikli Twin Waterfalls in Yalova: A Forest Day Trip from Istanbul

The Erikli twin waterfalls lie in Yalova City Forest (Yalova Kent Ormanı), in the hills of Teşvikiye above Çınarcık, on the far side of the Sea of Marmara from Istanbul. It is a green day trip: a forest park, a short walk to the falls and a picnic. This guide sets out what we could confirm, what only older sources report, and what to check before you travel.

The twin waterfalls at a glance

  • Where: Teşvikiye, in Çınarcık district, Yalova province. A hotel guide places the forest on the Erikli plateau, about 29 km from Yalova town.
  • What it is: A city forest set up in 2005 on about 95 hectares and run by the Yalova forestry directorate, according to the same guide. It lists the Erikli double waterfalls, a 2 km walking path, a suspension bridge, viewing terraces and picnic areas.
  • Entry: Free, according to that guide. It dates from 2012, so confirm this before you go.
  • Rules: It is a recreation forest, so do not light fires.

Those details come from a hotel’s promotional page and an encyclopaedia entry. We found no current page from the forestry directorate or the municipality, so opening hours and facilities are unconfirmed. The Çınarcık municipality confirms that Teşvikiye is one of the district’s three towns and that Teşvikiye Creek drains the area.

Photos from the walk

We visited on 2 May 2022. The stream runs through beech woodland, and in spring the new leaves are very bright. A zipline runs across the stream valley, with a flag hung from the cable. We found no source for its price, age limits or operator, so ask on site if you want to try.

Getting there

The forest is a long way from Istanbul and public transport is limited. A municipal bus runs between Yalova and Çınarcık, and the Çınarcık transport page lists the Çınarcık–Yalova fare as 65 TL with a smart card. The page is undated. One travel guide says minibuses go from Çınarcık to Teşvikiye, but we could not confirm the timetable.

For the crossing from Istanbul, check the sea-bus or ferry operator’s current timetable, since we have not verified a route. Our day trips without a car guide covers other trips by public transport, and the family activities guide has options inside the city for a shorter outing.

Before you go

  • Allow a full day, including the sea crossing and the road up from the coast.
  • Wear shoes with grip. The rocks near the water are wet.
  • Go in spring or autumn. The hotel guide says autumn draws the most visitors.
  • Take water and food, and take your rubbish back with you.

Last checked: 29 October 2026. Several facts come from a 2012 hotel page and have not been confirmed by an official source. We will update this guide when we have current figures.
